Ralph Lauren on Kakobuy Spreadsheet
Ralph Lauren is a knitwear hub on the Kakobuy spreadsheet: hoodies, crewnecks and sweaters make up nearly half of it, with polo shirts, shorts, vests, jackets and caps filling the rest. The Polo Bear pieces are the ones that move.
Layer it with pants, shorts or headwear from the wider Kakobuy Spreadsheet.
Polo Bear, polo shirts and the embroidery test
Two things dominate this hub. The first is the Polo Bear line — hoodies, crewnecks and tees carrying the knitted or embroidered bear — and the second is the polo shirt itself, which turns up here in a nineteen-colour listing, a coloured-label version and the City Series. Both are decided by embroidery quality, which is unusually easy to judge from a photo compared to most of what this site catalogs.
On the bear, look at the face. It is a small, dense piece of embroidery with a lot of colour changes in a tiny area, and a weak run muddies the eyes and mouth first, then loses the shape of the jumper stripes. On the polo shirts, the pony should be a compact, raised, slightly three-dimensional stitch — flat, wide or fuzzy means the thread count is down. Check the underside of the stitching too if the seller shows it, since loose backing is what unravels after a wash.
Fit is the one place this brand differs from streetwear. Ralph Lauren is cut classically, so the polos and sweaters sit closer than an oversized label would and the shorts run longer than a streetwear cut of the same nominal size. If you want a relaxed shape here, size up deliberately rather than assuming it. The vests and quarter-zip hoodies are the sleeper picks. All USD, all with a direct Kakobuy link.
