Arc'teryx on Kakobuy Spreadsheet
Arc'teryx on the Kakobuy spreadsheet is a technical outerwear hub: the SV jacket including the Beams version, a down jacket, Gamma LT and LEAF pants, Palisade shorts, a backpack, a shoulder bag and two beanies.
Technical shells sit with the rest of the jackets and pants on the Kakobuy Spreadsheet.
Taped seams are the test
Arc'teryx is a construction brand, and on a hardshell the construction is visible from the inside. Turn the jacket photo around: every seam on a waterproof shell should be covered by a narrow heat-taped strip, applied evenly and lying flat with no bubbling or lifting at the corners. A shell with untaped or partially taped seams is a windbreaker wearing the wrong logo, and no amount of correct external detailing changes that.
The external checks are the zips and the dead-bird logo. The zips should be laminated water-resistant ones with the tooth track sealed rather than exposed, and the pulls should have the correct moulded shape. The archaeopteryx logo is a fine, intricate embroidery — the individual bones in the wing should stay distinct at actual size, which is where a weak run muddies first.
On the softer pieces — the Gamma LT and LEAF pants, the Palisade shorts — the fabric hand is the thing: a stretch-woven technical fabric with a firm, slightly slick feel rather than a soft cotton-like one. Fit is athletic and cut close, so size up if you plan to layer. The backpack and shoulder bag are the cheaper entry points here. Prices in USD. More on the Kakobuy Spreadsheet.
