Prada on Kakobuy Spreadsheet

Prada on the Kakobuy spreadsheet is led by footwear — Monolith boots and lace-ups, Downtown leather sneakers, America's Cup — with Re-Nylon outerwear, the Re-Edition bag, tees, a beanie and sunglasses behind it.

The triangle plaque and the nylon

Prada's mark is an inverted enamelled triangle, and on almost every piece in this grid it is the thing to inspect first. It should be a crisp metal plate with a smooth, evenly filled enamel face and sharp lettering — not a raised plastic-looking lozenge. On the nylon pieces it is riveted or stitched onto a reinforced patch; on the leather shoes it sits on the tongue or the heel. Any softness in the triangle's corners is the fastest fault to spot.

Re-Nylon is the material that defines the outerwear here: the down jackets, the oversized technical coat and the Linea Rossa puffer vest are all built from it, and it is supposed to be a tightly woven, slightly matte technical fabric with a firm hand. Sheen is hard to judge in a warehouse photo, so ask for one in daylight. Check the baffle stitching and the zip garage at the collar while you are there.

On footwear, the Monolith family — the Chelsea boot and the lace-ups in padded and patent leather — is defined by its thick lugged rubber sole, and the sole should be a deep, sharply moulded unit rather than a shallow imitation of one. The Downtown and America's Cup sneakers are leather-led and come down to grain and edge finishing. Prada runs in EU sizing and slightly narrow. Everything is USD-priced.
