Gucci on Kakobuy Spreadsheet
Gucci is a bag hub on the Kakobuy spreadsheet — around six in ten listings are bags. GG Marmont, Dionysus, Ophidia, Horsebit 1955, Padlock and the GG Jumbo all appear, with Ace and Rhyton sneakers, belts and caps behind them.
The bags sit next to every other house in bags; belts and caps are in accessories and headwear on the Kakobuy Spreadsheet.
Hardware is what decides a Gucci bag
Each of the main Gucci bag families is defined by one piece of metal, and that piece is what to inspect. The GG Marmont has the interlocking double-G plaque above a chevron-quilted panel; the Dionysus has the tiger-head closure; the Horsebit 1955 has the horsebit clasp; the Padlock has, obviously, the lock. On a strong batch these are heavy, precisely cast and evenly plated, with the antiqued finish sitting in the recesses. On a weak one the casting is soft and the plating goes yellow rather than warm gold.
The second check is the canvas. GG Supreme is a printed coated canvas, so look at how the pattern is cut at the seams and whether the double-G motifs stay upright and evenly spaced across a panel. On the quilted leather Marmont, the chevron rows should be symmetrical either side of the centre and the stitching should not pull the leather into puckers at the turn of each row.
Belts are the most-listed accessory in this hub and they are also the easiest to get wrong on size: a Gucci belt is measured from the buckle to the middle hole, not by your trouser waist, so add roughly five centimetres to your waist measurement and check that against the chart. The Ace sneaker with the bee or snake embroidery and the chunky Rhyton are the footwear picks. Everything is priced in USD. More on the Kakobuy Spreadsheet.
